That happens to me too--missing original posts. Has to be a Gerry problem, not our email programs. That’s why I’m not a fan of trimming posts, some of these orphans make no sense, but if the thread appears you can sort it out.

I get the message for all Vanagon list emails. It seems that a relayed email will generate the message. Since I know the drill, I don't worry about it.

What does bother me is that I never get some messages, until someone has replied. I get the reply, with the original if it was not removed by the person who replied. Also, gmail sorts the messages for me, I guess based on content, into its default categories. Some Vanagon list messages arrive in my inbox, some in the forums folder, some in the updates folder, and there doesn't seem to be a reason for the assignment that makes sense to me.
