This is correct. Gerry is technically spoofing emails from everyone everytime it sends out.

I help manage the type2.com mailing lists and the problem is prevalent there too.

Either we make the email appear to be from the originator, or we make it appear from the server.

The latter keeps us (mostly) out of the spam folders, the first option is more asthetically pleasing. :-)
