Hello, I want to modify the sealing set-up between the cylinder head and cylinder liner (barrel?) to make a more reliable seal. I've seen the advice from VW to remove the compression seal gasket from between head and liner for aircooled engine. http://www.ratwell.com/technical/Heads.html#gaskets Has anyone tried this for watercooled cylinder heads? I'd imagine a bit of machining would be on order to maintain the geometry of the combustion chamber and to maintain the correct seal between water jacket and rubber gasket. Would the removal of the compression ring gasket create any difference in torque settings? Many thanks in advance, Mohamed ------------- Nirvanagon, 1984, 1.9 DG engine with popup roof, Manchester, England |
