And following that thread, reveals this tidbit:

Replaced the clutch master cylinder the other day. Finally got it to bleed today. I tried everything, pump pedal and bleed the bleeder the way I do my brakes. I tried self bleed with the bleeder valve open a few hours. I even tried using my vacuum bleeder but just could get nothing at all on the pedal. I have to thank a Samba member but I can't remember the post. they mentioned attaching a hose from the left rear brake bleeder to the clutch bleeder with both bleeders open. Then just pump the brakes (easy does it as you will blow off the connecting hose if you try too hard). After about 20 easy pumps on the brake pedal my clutch is now bled.

Thanks to all you Samba members _________________ Dave 82 Vanagon.

What a wonderful idea!

Reverse bleed the clutch cylinder.

Jim
