another view point, somewhat related, and aint hindsight great but...... I'd think that IF a person has the time, and a little guidance, they could drop the gas engine (WBX?), cut the input shaft, install adaptor plate, brackets, carriers, engine, then tow it to exhaust shop for the exhaust work. I'm thinking in terms of a gas to TD swap, not TDI. I know theres more to it than that (e.g. adapting engine bracket to turbo ?) but the above is more or less a "bolt up" affair. Neil.
