Eric, Run, don't walk, from this money pit! A friend of mine inherited a '67 a few years ago thinking he'd get it on the road, and $1500 worth of engine work later he gave it away. Not far from me sits a 67 Beetle at a private garage. It is a basic hard top and well used and some rust. It had a original owner that used it up to about 100,000 miles then parked it in a barn. for a few years it has sat under a tarp in the garage yard. I think it is original in all ways no special steering wheel, original shifter and wheels and all that stuff. It was running when parked. I’m telling myself to not go look at it but a friend asked if he would sell it and he said originally he was going to fix it for his daughter but she doesn’t seem interested. Any thoughts on what to look out for if I was crazy enough to take Basically a well used 67 bug in original condition with about 100k, and some body rust but probably reasonably solid. I’m sure everything well worn. What is it worth? What kind of offer would I be expected to make? What are goods and bad about the 67 bug? If I took it on it would be a long term slow retirement project.
Eric Caron Not in need of another project and really just a bus guy. |
