I'll follow up those leads

Also I've been told good things about rebuilds from Tuttle Parts Exchange
near LA, and heard that Tassi Inc near San Francisco both sell rebuilds and
do the whole install

(My current feeling is that it might be safer to have a better mechanic
than me do the work, and Tassi is nearest...)

If anyone has direct experience with any of these please share
