a last resort? At $100 it probably has major issues but who knows? http://detroit.craigslist.org/okl/pts/5814691576.html ad: " 1987 Vanagon 2.1L "Waterboxer" motor - $100 (Farmington hills) hide this posting Up for sale is a 2.1L Waterboxer that was pulled from an 87 Vanagon weekender. I bought the van about 2 years ago non-running with the intention of doing a TDI conversion, and as I'm in the midst of that swap, I have no use for the old motor anymore. Before it was pulled, the engine would crank freely, but wouldn't start. It has an almost brand new Bosch distributor on it, and it is equipped with AC and power steering. Engine would come as shown in the pictures. Currently sitting in my garage. More than happy to help load with my engine hoist. My name is Scott, my cell is (810)623-9721, please feel free to call or text me with any questions. Thanks for looking! "
