I'd think the propane fittings are all SAE?

Where is the leak?

the back side of a piece of emery cloth can provide a very very mild polishing surface. Or, use a very worn out piece of 400 wet/dry ? Bras brand polish has a very mild amount of abrasives and would be appropriate. I'd clean off the grease first. As a last resort, I've used Brasso to polish brass instrument (musical) piston cylinders. If used correctly, it can evenly polish a brass surface but it won't easily remove ridges, deep scratches or vice versa, impart same to surface.
