Eric,

Rust free versions are worth a lot of money to collectors. And yes, the price for this one is $170,000. This is a very rare 23 window Samba, and a true concourse restoration. Your friend could be sitting on a gold mine. A diamond mine actually.

Sorry you can't see this, it's gorgeous: http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=1977791

Hi folks,

Not a vanagon question but hoping I’m still in bounds for a non Friday.

In a recent conversation I was told about a 1956 split bus sitting in a local garage. I remember hearing about it’s arrival about 5 years ago. It was gifted to a young woman by a friend in Arizona. She drove it to VT. It has only started a few times in the last few years. I don’t know much else about it yet. the family is interested in finding it a home and I volunteered to look at it.

So, this could also be a simple technology learning bus for me but it could also be a bit more connected to my vanagon then the beetle around the corner.

Where might I get a crash course about 56 busses and what to look for in terms of body and drive train weak points or desirable characteristics?

Here’s to hoping I have found another worth while retirement project.

I know some of you folks still have a splitty . and many others remember them well.

I was recently given some older VW parts and I kept a few that actually seemed like they would be useful on my vanagon. Are there some clear connections between the splitty and the vanagon?

I have a bracket I was told was to hold the battery and I suspect it might actually work in my vanagon as mine is missing. I love finding the connections between the T1, T2, and T3.
