My camper doesn't have the rotating seats, so I take the passenger seat off the track & turn it around all the time when camping. I could not think of a single positive purpose for that locking tab and got tired of fighting with it when taking the seat off the track. 30 seconds with a cutoff wheel and it has never bothered me since. To make seat reversal even easier, I also used the cutoff wheel to remove the frontmost 1/2" of the seat tracks because the seat cushion would hit the glovebox before the seat was completely free from the track.
