Once you check that you are getting enough voltage (and current if you can set-up a meter) on both the trigger wire to the solenoid and the main feed to the starter post. You can try bridging at the starter … if is spins, you can go back to the front and pull the plug off the ignition switch and bridge there. If it still spins, then your switch is suspect. If the starter does not spin, then the starter or solenoid are suspect.
In the latter case, get an adapter plate from Karl and a TD/TDi starter (Bosch SR0408X or SR0409X) and your van will be once again happy.
