Oh one more thing and this advice might be too late or it might be advice you don't need as you probably have a sharper mind than I do.

Before installing the alarm system, I set it up , wired it all up, on a 1.5x1.5' bit of plywood.

Had a battery for power, some 12v lights , some switches, lots of wires. Made a sort of synoptic panel using the alarm system components.

I got the system all figured out on the bench before trying to install in the van.
