GoWesty... If you have the horse power, the taller 3rd and 4th gears are great. I have an '84 with a 2.3L engine and rebuilt tranny with taller 3rd and 4th from GoWesty and am very pleased with the power. The taller 3rd makes it possible to travel around town in 3rd gear. Almost like having an automatic tranny. > Date: Mon, 31 Oct 2016 15:10:45 -0700 > From: dougm+sfbayrangers@KZSU.STANFORD.EDU > Subject: Transaxle for an '85 4-speed manual waterboxer? > To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM > > My girlfriend just got the bad news that her transaxle is shot. > > I’m aware of the following sources for rebuilds: > http://www.mrgasrebuilds.com/ > http://www.aatransaxle.com/ > http://www.germantransaxle.com > > Anyone I’m missing?
