Funny … living in the land of snow and the only time I’ve used chains in the past 20 years is with a truck: either off-road at a job site or ploughing snow. I’ve run one form or another of Hakkapeliitta’s on all my {winter driven} vehicles since … well, pretty much forever. With everything being front-wheel drive or all wheel drive (the LT being the exception), I have a couple of sets of 20-yr old, but brand new chains (cables for the cars, chains for the trucks) which have never been mounted.

Cables are easier to put on and off (of a car anyway), but chains have more bite … I personally prefer the diamond pattern, but when I was a kid we only had the straight chains. It might be a little harder to roll-on a set of the diamond pattern chains, but I do it so infrequently these days, the real issue may just be me.
