I had Kuhmo's on my 15 inch rims, they lasted about 25k.I now have the BFG's, they seem to be wearing better. road noise was about the same for both as they aged. They arnt as quiet as hwy tires. Hi all. This is for an '81 2wd manual transmission Vanagon, Jetta 2.0 engine.

I see a comment in archives regarding a Kumho 27.7" diameter tire, stock gearing and road noise. Kumho 215/75/15 AT51 (27.6" diameter) users: hows the road noise and 2wd manual tranny gearing?

I've ordered new Mefro 15" wheels and am comparing BFG AT KO2 vs Kumho AT51. Tirerack link to Kumho: http://tinyurl.com/gphche2 The Kumho costs less, has a higher load rating and slightly deeper tread but tread pattern aside, appears quite similar to the BFG. As a point of reference, van-cafe indicates the BFG as an option in their Mefro wheel-tire packages.

Thanks,

Neil.
