Happy Thanksgiving indeed!

Well.... maybe it IS time for larger diameter wheels. Bigger brakes may be in my future. I just have a hard time seeing past the VW's original design reasons for using the 14" wheel. (e.g. sidewall dimension required?) But as noted, tire design has improved and what did VW have to choose from back in 1980? And, reducing sidewall by 1" or so probably isn't a big deal; other heavy(ier) vehicles use 15" or 16" wheels. And if a 14" tire fails, how much of a hassle is it to get replace it with same?

Buying new 15" or 16" wheels is a tough financial pill to swallow though I see van-cafe has a 10% off sale currently. Used wheels is an option but I'd rather keep it simple. (no spacers etc). The Mefro wheels might be a good option.

Neil.
