Check ground after you took off the light, at the plug brown wire. No ground, not power. Z -----Original Message----- From: Lacy, Reed H Sent: Thursday, December 01, 2016 8:57 PM To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM Subject: 87 Westfalia headlight issue As I was returning home yesterday evening, I adjusted my headlights and they went out. Thankfully I was only about 10 block from home. Presently when I click the rocker switch all the way to the on position the only visible result is the blue 'high beam' dashboard indicator lights up. Pulling the turn signal lever to toggle high beams on/off does not alter the high beam indicator: it stays on. The 'fog' lights come on as expected, but neither high beams nor low beams turn on now. I've replaced the rocker switch at least two times previously, and my vague recollection is that when that component was at fault the symptoms were different. Tonight I took the rocker switch apart and cleaned the contacts but got no change in behavior: no head lights and only a blue high-beam indicator. Any suggestions as to what the issue is and how to fix it would be much appreciated. Thanks... Reed |
