One relatively minor reason for going with the LTX is local pricing of Nokian tires. If a Nokian fails, it's not worth the trip to the US for me to get a new one so I'm over paying (IMO) for a new one. But then my current set of Nokians have been fine in that regard so tire failure is likely only a remote possibility. Since I tend to avoid snowy road conditions, I may not have to report back in that regard but will do my best to post what I find of the LTX. Neil.
