No solution but a tip I learned at a Westy meet up.

Keep the body metal where canvas folds down on, clean. Maybe same for
flocking inside?

The OEM canvas is pretty strong, even when beat up like my old one was (images)

but were it me, if the canvas was original, I wouldn't try cleaning
it. If I did, I'd find a helper and use some method of holding backing
material up against opposite side I was cleaning.
