You may find another VW connector, with better condition wires, that will fit. Or, your FLAPS or VW specific parts shop may stock ~ 8" wires with the proper terminal already crimped on. Removing the wires from the connector is a small PITA but can be done with a paper clip or similar. Push up on wire as you apply the tool that closes the ears on terminal.
