Yeah I know what you mean in both your posts. Understand that I have access to the best welding machines and that makes up to a degree for my poor welding ability (my lack of ability in welding comes from age related eye sight , good welding is a young man or woman's game).

Hold on and I might have a simpler solution.

And the valve shut off for ferry travel is accounted for in my version posted. See the half moon cut out on the side plate? I can get my fingers in and turn off the valve. The valve knob is a replacement version I made on lathe, slightly larger but the access idea holds for stock knob.
