Subject: clutch issue or hydraulics issue
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8

Hello all, My 1991 GL with a 2.2 Subaru + a Manual Transmission has been having a shifting issue as in I've been having trouble getting into gear. The clutch kit is about 8 years old. Transmission was rebuilt 3 years ago.

Last night when driving, it was a real struggle to get into 1st and 2nd second gears when the van was running. I had to slam the sucker in there, if that makes sense. Additionally, I've been getting some clutch chatter...

I can shift through all gears when not moving and the engine off.

If memory serves me right, this sounds like a pilot bearing/clutch issue vs. a bad master and or slave cylinder.

Before I get to tearing things apart, I just wanted to confirm my thinking that I'm likely dealing with a clutch/pilot bearing issue.

Thoughts and guidance appreciated

Thanks, Jimmy Wilmington, NC
