Been struggling, LongDistance, for a couple of weeks with helping a Fellow Vanagonaut in SantaFe NM to get His 87Westy to Start ~ It died on Him luckily very close to His home & was able to coast it to His Driveway ~ It would Crank but Not FireUp ~ It had been doing some Stumbling @ Idle & Hesitations & Weakish Acceleration on Starts From Stops ~ He is Newish to Vanagon Ownership & is getting a bit of the IndoctrinationTour ~ He got a Very Nice/Clean LowMile 84Kish Van & it's a Van I've actually known for a couple of years as the PO was a fairly close neighbor who was also a Vanagon Newby/Wanaby that got a GoodDeal, worked some Bugs out (with My help) that it had acquired as it had been parked for a bunch of years & then decided to sell ~ So I talked Him through Diag' Process & everything seemed to CheckOut Just Fine ~ But No FireUp ~ Finally yesterday I got some time, threw a bunch of SpareParts & Tools in My VDubaru & headed Up to SF ~ To make this LongStory Shorter, it turned out to be a WeakCoil ~ It was getting a consistent Spark to All4 but apparently not a a GoodEnough Spark to Fire the Fuel ~ So that is the Part to Remember ~ Just because You Have Spark it Doesn't Necessarily Mean You Have a Properly Functioning Coil ~ ORR ~ DeanB |
