For some reason, the black or grey seem to last longer than the white ones. The better quality will have the metal tab for the zip lock instead of plastic.

I don't know. I bought some white zip ties years ago thinking they were all created equal. They disintegrated in the heat of the engine compartment. They were cheap Harbor Freight items but it taught me to spend the few extra bucks on good ones.
