The vent cover he mentioned simply trims out the unfinished rectangular hole left by the removal of the plenum/shroud on a Westy's rear-mounted A/C.  You do not need the cover; it just improves the looks.  Once you remove the shroud/plenum the airflow to the front is unencumbered and will change your opinion of the effectiveness of a Vanagon's A/C. If you followed the Samba thread (search on "plenum" in the Vanagon forum to find it) you will see posts by people who have made their own trim panels to dress up the hole; some used wood to make nice looking grilles, some used sheet metal.  The trick is to make something that will not interfere with the airflow you worked so hard to achieve.  Some of the folks made extras or will do so on request.  I don't know what they charge for their efforts but if you're handy you could whip something up once the plenum is off and you can see the terrain.  If my link below is any good you can see the unfinished opening in my van.  That Samba thread should tell you everything you need to know about it. PM me if you have any questions. Good luck! https://get.google.com/albumarchive/112729414255295600165/album/AF1QipPM5v1M93yNEUaYXu-4AEiUaNQ2ODnpQq9rieMb?authKey=CM_3suGIq8DpgQE Stephen
