GW says it's their own design, and, of course, better than anything else ever. Installed one on my son's '87 two years ago, but not enough time to really evaluate. So far so good, and it's a pretty easy install, mostly done flat on your back. NO MORE Bosch rebuilds, they are all junk because the winding insulation is so old they are failing in short order.

Hi all. My Bosch starter is on borrowed time. It spins great until it hits a flat spot. Then it may not spin at all until hit with a hammer. Spare used Bosch starter may be no better.

It's my understanding that gowesty made improvements to the latest edition starter they now sell. User input in gowesty starters would be appreciated.

Since I'm on a road trip, am considering the gowesty reduction gear starter vs the mullendore adaptor/TDI starter since it *seems* the former will be an easier install while away from home.
