Subject: Bosch Rotor and cap (Jetta engine in vanagon)
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8

I apologize for tha lack of images. Thesamba is not loading them right now.

Distributor mounted, no end play. Part removed, it had slightly less play than a higher mileage spare dizzy. Possibly heat damaged rotor has a dull plastic finish, older used one has a shiny appearance. Dull finish rotor resitance: 1095 ohms. Shiny rotor: 1155 ohms. A tiny tiny amount of wobble was felt between dizzy and mount hole. I cleaned a tiny amount of debris from vertical facing edge distributor seats at. Horizontal face at hole was clean.

The centre contact at low mileage dull finish cap sticks further out (down) and pulling gently on it reveals a weaker spring than spring on spare new shiny finish cap.

Par numbers on each cap and rotor are the same save for a 2 digit number or x.x number.

I'm wondering if the potential issue (heat damage) is due to difference in plastic quality.

Neil.
