Yes indeed, and when it's missing the window can bang back and forth when lowered as you change speed too. Mine originally had a felt pad (sitting in the bottom of the door, rotted). I used new 1/2" felt carpet underlayment and Goop.

Just another one of those minor details that 30 year old rigs need addressed.

Hi all.

If you find your window rolls up crooked, and-or has excessive fore-aft play, inspect to see if the foam type material at a bracket on upper rearward end of door where the glass passes, is missing. This foam helps to guide and support the window as its rolled up and down. My door was missing this foam and after using it this way for a while, the window ended up falling into the door when rolled all the way down. (The white plastic guide would jump the track).

The repair consisted of using "Goop" to glue on a ~ 1/2" thick piece of fairly hard closed cell foam over the entire length of this bracket. Since the ends of the foam would spring up while the glue set, very clever and knowledgable friend offered up a lengthwise split piece of rubber hose to use as a clamp to hold the work in place. This worked exceedingly well. So far, the repair is holding.

Neil.
