Welcome to California Ned !
Were not all as kooky as we might be depicted in the press.. :) BUT, we
are getting a record amount of rain this year, and creeks and rivers are
flowing and you should find things green and quite lovely on your road
trip !
I live in Santa Barbara, and was going to say that IF you were coming in
a Vanagon I could make some suggestions on what you could get away with,
in terms of camping. But since you are in a larger RV wanted to say that
this place is rather unfriendly to larger vehicles and parking, as a
result of laws targeting people living in vehicles on the streets.
Anything over 25' is on parking enforcement's radar, including Sprinters
as well, apparently due to their height ?
Nevertheless, as folks mentioned there are some good State campgrounds
above and below SB, and on the coast that will accommodate you.
Good Luck and have a safe trip !
