Yes, cut that useless metal out and you've got 6" before the unit hits the heater box. My unit is exactly 6" deep and fits perfectly without that bracket.

there's a metal triangular bracket on the back of the radio.. it's there to hold a "short" radio (back in the old time)...


you can cheat by cutting that piece out to gain some space...
