I've been using a pioneer cd less unit for half a year now and I'm quite happy with it. It pairs very quickly with my iPad and phone, has phone talk ability etc .

And I don't miss the cd at all. I found myself using CDs less and less before I got this new unit.

And the lack of cd means the head unit is substantially smaller. And no struggle to install even with all the rca jack outputs on back filled. And as an aside, the USB and aux inputs are on back, not on face plate. In our vans this I think is better. You can cut a hole on the ashtray to lead the USB cable up there if you want to plug in a thumb drive. And I have the aux input led to the glove box.

I have blog post on it here
