Subject:      How to spend $500 dealer credit in 40 days?

        As part of VW's "Sorry We Committed an Egregious Fraud Against You" Campaign I have $500 of dealer credit I must use before April 30. Alas, the credit cannot be redeemed for gift certificates or cash :-(
        Since it's a use-it-or-lose-it credit, I'm looking for suggestions of what spare parts I ought buy for my '88 Westy.
        
        My Westy is an '88 automatic, just under 100,000 miles on the original Wasserboxer engine, with no immediate needs. She has A/C, cruise control and power mirrors. I realize many parts are NLA, but not all. Plus some items might be available through the VW Classic Parts program.
        I want to use the credit on Vanagon parts that are prone to wear out or fail unexpectedly,  things one might want to have sitting in the garage, or parts you might take along with you on a longer trip.         I welcome your ideas and suggestions; please hurry, the clock is ticking on my credit!
    
        * (Yes, I am one of the unfortunate TDI owners whose comfortable, efficient, eco-friendly Jetta Sportwagen turned out to be just comfortable and efficient. I'm going to sell the car back to VGA, but not before I put another year's worth of miles on her, since the price is locked-in and she's wearing nearly new Michelins!)
