I mention the Vanagon List on VOG for years and continue to do so.

Recruiting for regional Vanagon groups is allowed and encourage on VOG. However, advertising competing Vanagon groups with similar global reach is discouraged.

The primary intent is to keep VOG from fracturing into smaller Facebook groups (Syncro, aircooled, Subaru, Doka, etc.) such as what happened to the Vanagon List over the years.

All you have to do is search the words "Vanagon List" in parentheses on VOG to find other members mentioning the Vanagon List without being censured by Admin. You will even see me mention being co-mod on the List as well as co-mod on VOG. The difference between these references is Ken's posting was advertising a move to a competing platform and related commercial advertising. VOG no longer allows the latter. Ken's posting is still there. It's still advertising Vanagon.com. Certain portions of his posting just needed to be adjusted to comply with the rules.

While I'm on the subject, vendors are not banned from posting on VOG. They are just not allowed to post 'commercial ads' all day long like they were doing.

If numbers are evidence of success, VOG had 768 members when I joined the admin team a couple of years ago. Today it is at 7,286 members and growing daily.
