Hi John

I am not a Vanagon mechanic but I will share with you why I change the coolant every two years. Almost every Vanagon mechanic I have met recommended that interval. Secondly the guys that work on their own Vanagons and have accumulated a lot of experience recommend the same interval. Some people even change it every year. My opinion is based on speaking with those that know these vehicles and are very familiar with the engine. I am comfortable doing what they do. I am not a mechanic but thought I would pass this along anyway. Good luck. I know you said you aren't interested in opinions just facts but I will give you an opinion anyway I really think it's time you flushed your coolant . Take care,

Bernie Vancouver
