Not weird but... My concern would be the residual refrigerant in the evaporator mixing with the coolant which then runs through the entire cooling system. No if you had a brand new evaporator thats never been used then i wouldnt see why it wouldnt work. no residual refrigerant to intermix with coolant. Water pump pumps water through the system so that added routing would have coolant supplied but that Abel.
