Hi all. This engine previously ran. After checking head nut torque, i re installed the rocker arms (i was careful to ensure push rods were seated to liftrs), cranked the engine, and as it fired for a split second, i heard a "clack clack". After that it only cranked and sounded like it possibly had less compression. I removed the rockers on driver side, checked pushrod to rocker alignment, but one push rod (lifter) now seems to be out too far thus not allowing "easy" re installation of the rocker. That same set of rockers installed easily before. Could the "clack clack" noise have been a misaligned pushrod to lifter? I think i saw this mentioned in someone elses post here, but could a misaligned pushrod to lifter cause the retaining clip on lifter to come loose or otherwise damage the lifter? I only need this engine to run to move the van around. When i get home, ill do a compression check and inspect rockers at other head. Hopefully, the lifter for the offending pushrod has bled down by now. Thanks, Neil.
