Thanks for that info Dennis.

Before applying it, I did think that some excess black RTV might break loose into the intake tract but was careful to apply the sealant at outer edge of the intake runner gasket. Regardless, it was a "Hail Mary" type of thing. But, I didn't think that gasket material would foul the intake valve in some manner.

All this is giving me yet more respect for those who know what the heck they're doing with these flat 4's.
