On my 88 i did the pipe r&r using new 2 piece pipes with fuel tank in place. I dont recall if the old plastic pipes were clamped in place above the fuel tank. Cant recall if i installed new heater hose first but it was a little tricky getting front ends of new pipes in. Cant recall if i did this, but were i to do this job again, id consider labelling the pipes (orientation) before installing.
