Is it about blind spot during driving or park sensors? During driving, the modern sensors are useless without the matching counterpart ECU, communicating via CAN bus and stuff.

If it´s about park sensors, I used mid 2000s Audi A6 sensors and the relevant ECU to activate the reverse beeper.

Not even sure if ECU is using CAN bus, but if so, apologies it´s still useless on the standard Vanagon. In the end, Dug´s solution is the way forward, I just like the sensos being nicely integrated into the bumper, not "attached" :-)
