Subject: Rear hatch grommet update
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=utf-8

Hi Mark,

I saw your email asking for a rear hatch grommet update.

Chris from T3 wrote me and only had the oval grommet for the driver’s side. round ones not available anywhere as far as I know.

Jim is sending me a used one but it sounds questionable.

I will probably construct something. I found some round rubber pieces Grommets just for the holes no tube attached. I have some auto tubing from wires that fits the inner diameter and I’ll try to squeeze the wires and tube for the sprayer through. This should be pretty tight but I’ll look into some gasket seal for the connection points to help with keeping water out.

It seems like the driver side that is available fails less often I suspect that the washer tube fails in this spot for others not just mine.

At the Duck recently I looked at a friends van and his had the same problem as mine. The driver side was perfect. the passenger side with round ends had failed. He coverd with rescue tape once it was discovered.

So If I find a good one I’ll hold on to it! But i’m not going to redo those wires and tube again once done!
