Just thought I would make a little report on the progress of work on my
Carat. Its been a slow uphill slog, but its coming along. When I set out
with this machine after the engine was destroyed, I figured a major
overhaul would do the trick. Boy was I wrong.

The new engine got rebuilt twice because of a bad internal part. Got that
problem resolved, then found the aoto tranny was shot. Had that rebuilt.
The rock shields didn't get put back on - did that yesterday. The trinary
switch on the AC blew out. Replaced ir, flushed the system, vavuumed it,
and recharged using HFC 152A. System didn't want to take the chage at
first, because the compressor would not kick in. Found the main power wire
from the alternator to be disconnected. Fi FIxed that and it kicked right
in. AC will now freeze a halibut. Went to drop the spare tire pan per Ben
T'S longer hook on the tire holder only to find the tires at sometime had
mangled it. Spent quite a bit of time hammering it out straight to remount
it. The tire is a full size 205-14 @ and that made necesssry dropping the
tire pan. Fresh air blower in the dash is all thats left. I have a new
motor from VC to go in there. I've almost got it done. Lookining foward to
some good road trips!
