Subject: BIG RED FLAG > SmallCar BellHousing + LUK Clutch Disc = Disaster ~
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

To Those who have done or are considering a Subaru Conversion in Their Vanagon &

decide to use the SmallCar Performance Route (as I would again if I were to do it again) ~

As Has Been Mentioned before By Ben @ http://www.benplace.com/bjp3.htm & I

Unfortunately Forgot ~

DO NOT USE an LUK Clutch Disc in a SmallCar BellHousing ~ Disaster Happens ~

6Mo old Metal Slave/Release Bearing from VW Dealer + Brand Spankin New Luk Clutch Disc

resulted in both being Destroyed ~ It took about 2.5Min's of Eng run for the Disc Snout to

LockUp/Cease inside the Slave ~ I had to remove the Pressure Plate bolts through the slot

in the bottom of the BellHous' in order to get the the Trany Down & then Dismantle the Disc

with an Angle Grinder in order to get the Disc off the Trany ~

ORR ~ DeanB

& By the way ~ Reason for the Clutch Work was due to having the EJ25 Out for Replace

by Rebuild @ 75K Mi's Due to a Gates TimingBelt Coming Apart @ 50K Mi's ~ Not been Good

here for the past 6 Weeks ~
