a slight thread-hijack.

That 2.5 Subie motor is known to fail at the head gasket, similar to the waterboxer you'd be wanting to replace. We inherited two, both dropped their head gaskets, and no shop would agree to repair those motors for under about $3000. Every shop we talked to had the same rap...."2.5 Subaru motors? Those have known head gasket problems, junk it!".
