Hi David and others, I didn’t realize your van was a automatic. I thought yours was Standard. My van is starting fine but I am always looking for ways to be prepared in advance. Your positive report makes me interested in getting Carl’s adaptor for my automatic. I thought I might be able to create a kit and carry that with me so that if I have a problem I can get the TDI starter and just put that in. My other thought is just change it out and have a new starter. And if it dies on the road I should have a easier time getting a replacement. Any thoughts or tips on this? Only future consideration is that I will someday need to replace this 1.9 with a 2.1 or go westy 2.3 and it would be nice if this would work with either future engine.
