I have always had my starters alternators (and other non VW motors - plow,
winch) rebuilt by a shop in Rhode Island - Ace amrature. They do awesome
work and always warranty with a minimum of 1 year. Never had an issue with
anything they have rebuilt. I guess it depends a lot on the shop and the
quality of parts but I have found their work to be superior to most
aftermarket products I have tried.
