Hi Alistair,
Thanks. Yes, new dustcap with the cable install. I pulled the cap yesterday and ran the cable with a drill, and still have the bounce. I lubed the cable well with 3-in-1 oil on install (it was quite difficult to turn by hand). I adjusted the cable to minimize it, but still there. I heard from FAS where my conversion was done that they have had a lot of cable issues with Gemo over the last year, and had to replace a bunch. Apparently that's been resolved, but I don't want to dump another $50, delivered, only to get another old-stock cable with the same issues.

Keith,
It's been a while since I've worked
with 2wd cable, but seeing as no one else has chimed in,
I'll take a stab.
Is
the square hole in the cap on the hub, where the cable end
goes thru, in good shape? I mean is it square to match the
cable end? And the little circlip on the cable end in place?

folks that have struggled with the bouncy speedo needle, has
anyone found a reliably good replacement cable? I replaced
mine with a Van-Cafe version early this year (Gemo brand)
and it reduced the bouncing but still there. Just installed
a rebuilt speedo head from GoWesty, and have the same
bouncing problems (causing my cruise control to be glitchy).
I've done all of the tweaking and adjusting I can to
little avail. I've seen good reviews of cables from most
of the usual suspect vendors, and bad reviews from most as
well. Seems a lot of QC issues with most, apparently.
