Personally, I would not entrust a Syncro box to anyone who is not experienced with them. Research carefully!

Extremely timely question, I just returned from just outside Riviere-du-loup in Quebec to home in 3rd gear after 4th gave out, about 900 km. 10km from home 3rd packed it in.
If anyone knows of someone in Canada, close to Hamilton Ontario area preferred, that can rebuild the transmission, is greatly appreciated.
'90 Syncro tintop.

It depends on where you live. If you are on the West Coast:
AATransaxle, German Transaxle, Rancho.
East Coast:

I have about 115,000 miles on my 87 Westy. Obviously it has the defective 3/4 hub/slider in the transmission that is prone to failure. Rather than wait until it goes bad and more than likely leaves me stranded, I was looking at replacing it this coming winter when not using the van. Who does a good job of rebuilding these transmissions with the updated components?
