The tank venting is actually "a thing".. important, especially if you drive in a wet climate. I was having running problems with my 84...missing and dying. I chased everything trying to find why....till someone suggested the tank venting might be the cause. Sure enough, the grommets were rotted away. The. expansion tanks, right in the wheel wells, those were taking in water like crazy...
