While on our trip across the country in July, we say very few other vanagons. It was hot and humid east of the Rockies (Ocean City, MD and westward). Then further west was just hot. They are way fewer of us out there anymore. Yes I know there are some staunch owners that are out there mostly on their own but they are far and few between. Like most of our vehicle types, they more and more do what cars do best, stand still and collect dust.

Sorry if it sounds negative but we are all getting older. The eclipse has a draw but not as much as a Grateful Dead concert or a Music Festival. As others have said, it's just plain too hot....

Good luck to those in the eclipse chase. Don't stare down the sun though.... :)

Cheers!
